چکیده

In the cyclic reservation multiple access (CRMA) scheme, nodes reserve slots in each reserve command. Cycles are then generated in sequence, each of which services the reservations made in the corresponding reserve command. Huang et al. [2,3] proposed a reservation scheme, in which nodes are partitioned into regions and slots can be reused in succeeding regions, to reduce access delays due to long cycles. However, slots cannot be reused by the nodes in the same region, resulting in the waste of available slots and line utilization. We propose a modified scheme to eliminate this disadvantage. As a result, cycles generated are shorter and access delays are smaller. 6 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

A Fast Optimal Non-Continuous Slot Reuse Scheme for CRMA High-Speed Networks

Cyclic-Reservation Multiple-Access (CRMA) is an effective access scheme for high-speed networks. In CRMA, the headend periodically generates reserve commands. If necessary, each station may reserve a number of empty slots in each reserve command. For each reserve command, the headend generates a cycle of length equal to the total number of empty slots which are reserved to serve the reservation...

Evaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...

On Slot Allocation for Time-Constrained Messages in Dual-Bus Networks

Several access schemes have been suggested for dual-bus network topology, e.g., DQDB [32], Fasnet [37], CRMA [41], and Simple [36]. It is therefore important to provide various services in this type of networks. This paper addresses the issue of guaranteeing the timely delivery of isochronous (real-time) messages with hard deadlines in slotted dual-bus networks. We propose a slot allocation sch...

Risk-aware beacon scheduling for tree-based ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 wireless networks

In a tree-based ZigBee network, ZigBee routers (ZRs) must schedule their beacon transmission times to avoid beacon collisions. The beacon schedule determines packet delivery latency from the end devices to the ZigBee coordinator at the root of the tree. Traditionally, beacon schedules are chosen such that a ZR does not reuse the beacon slots already claimed by its neighbors, or the neighbors of...
